The Ultimate Kiss
Did you know that there are world records for kissing cobras? I thought the TV personalities that held the cobras by the tail were crazy. I never dreamed that anyone would put his lips to the snake's head.

Technology Update: Google Documents
This is probably a little late, but Google has begun to offer Word Processing on the web. They have offered spreadsheets for a while, but just recently, they combined the spreadsheets with their documents.
Main Advantages:
1. Access anywhere
This is great if you are like me and use many different computers.
2. Collaborate
I haven't had much chance to try this, but multiple people can edit the same document at the same time.
Disadvantages
It does not have most of the features that most Word Processing programs have (mail merge, image editing, ...). But, you can export to and import from other formats. So, you can use each for its advantages.

Computer Text Book: Topics
I have talked about creating a text book for our Christian School's Computer Class. This may be one of those projects that just gets talked about, but maybe this conversation will help someone else looking to do the same thing.
Right now, I am just brainstorming on what topics the book should include.
Audience: 9th-12th Grade
General Topic: Computer Applications
My thought is to cover in detail the necessary topics that anyone would need in using computers. Then, I would introduce specialty areas without going into detail.
Necessary Topics
Internet -- web browsing, email
Operating Systems
Office Applications -- Word Processing, Spreadsheets
Specialty Areas
Internet -- web publishing, networking
Computer Administrator -- security, installing
Hardware
Programming
Graphics
CAD/CAM
Robotics
The approach for the specialty areas would be to try to introduce the student to the area, and point them in the right direction to pursue it further. The students have a better chance of learning if they enjoy it; they have a better chance of enjoying if they can explore what interests them.
Please comment on areas that I missed or opinions on the approach. Thanks.

Fun Fact: Deadly Vending Machines
Always research chain emails before you send them out. I've seen several emails that claimed things that were untrue as revealed by a quick search on Google.
Besides, you may find out other interesting facts while researching ... like this one: Vending Machines have killed more people than Sharks!
http://urbanlegends.about.com/b/a/005445.htm
Actually, I would like more information. From what little I have heard, sharks normally maim people rather than kill them. I would like to compare injuries instead of fatalities in the quest for the deadliest award. But, I don't think I want to spend the time researching.

First Post
This is my first delve into the world of blogging. This adventure is a learning experience, but everyone has to start somewhere.
I normally learn quickly with no fear of jumping in and making it work. Hands-on experience is always the best. However, hands-on means trying it out, making mistakes, and learning as you go. With blogging, hands-on involves making mistakes for the world to see. Therein lies my reluctance.
Why try to blog?
Sharing Information Connects
Most pages across the Internet have both ads and content. While the ads may attract attention, the content is what really draws others. Therefore, if you want to bring people together to a place, provide information, and they will probably come.
Sharing Information Establishes Reputation
When someone provides information that another does not have, that party is greater. Therefore, you can build up your reputation by helping others. Those who you have helped will repay you with a higher regard.
Examples
Ray Ontko is one of the examples that motivated me. He is recognized as one of the leaders in the SQR world (programming). I would never have known about him had it not been that he has published some very helpful information on SQR in a market where very little information exists.
Who knows though? It might backfire. But, I will live and learn -- in this case in front of the world -- if anyone notices.
